The magic of content marketing…

Have you heard about Buffer? It’s a social media platform that allows content sharing automation, like HootSuite. Buffer got really hot on the Internet when it launched, growing from 0 to 100K users in nine months.

That’s pretty good growth hacking if you ask me. How did one of the most recognizable social media tools manage to scale so quickly? Facebook ads? TV ads during the Super Bowl? Banners? Black magic?

None of the above. The answer is smart content marketing and SEO.

Buffer’s co-founder, Leo Wildrich, used a strong guest blogging strategy, writing and posting insightful blog posts all over the Web. Google ‘buffer guest blogging’ to learn more about specific tactics Leo used to get such amazing results.

How to become someone worth talking about? Being interesting isn’t just about learning how to become a good conversationalist. You need stories to tell.

I realized it early in life. In every job and at every stage of my life I had unique content that gave me an edge, and eventually propelled me ahead of the pack. You need to offer your network or your company something of value to differentiate yourself. Your content is your work portfolio. It’s your differentiator. It’s what makes you stand out among the timid masses no matter who you are and where you are from. It shows you’re interested and involved in the world around you. It shows your expertise. It’s what makes you interesting in life, and on the Internet. It’s the message that will make you stand out, attracting others to become part of your network.

    Hi Matt,

So happy to tweet this through Triberr for you. You’re a content marketing wizard dude. So skilled at telling an intriguing story, and of course, at spreading the word through many different platforms. The multitude of your marketing skills amazes me.

SlideShare, Medium, blogging, ebooks….you’re a pro at hacking just about any platform to expand your presence into new, targeted audiences. Free tools which bring you immense success if you’re creative, persistent, and intent on offering a story of value.

Buffer is a great note; when I mentioned them through my twitter stream a few months back they were quick to support me. Pretty freakin’ neat, that their brand awareness/social media radar is so finely tuned. They listen, they give thanks and they learn from the feedback of their audience. Sounds like a recipe for serious growth to me and the proof is in the Buffer pudding.

Honest to goodness, I’ve built a mini blogging empire through a simple strategy like blog commenting…..and hey, that’s what my next eBook will be about 😉 OK the word is out…Blogging from Paradise has 2 more eBooks in the works, and that’s my next one.

Thanks for sharing your keen insight Matt.

    Tweeting through Triberr.

Thanks much Ryan, I learned a ton from you man! Thanks for connecting on Triberr.

I just did a podcast with Steamfeed this week and we talked about what you commented on:

“Free tools which bring you immense success if you’re creative, persistent, and intent on offering a story of value.”

      Let’s break it down:

      1) No $$ needed: use FREE tools to win big

      2) Persistency: those who win play a long-term game, it’s years, there is quickly on the Internet, it’s school of hard knocks, and CONSISTENCY is key

      3) Offering value: many Internet enthusiasts still just want to promote and sell and call themselves gurus still wearing diapers, and offer zero value, it’s paramount that you start with VALUE

Thanks again for the great comment and kind words! Keep up the great work from Fiji!
