Webinar Marketing: Notes from Lewis Howes’ Growth Engine Webinar

Today I joined the free webinar on Clarity.fm, Free Clarity Live Session: How to Generate 6 to 7 Figures a Year with Your Webinar Strategy, hosted by webinar mastermind, Lewis Howes, whom I discovered a while back on James Altucher’s show. Lewis started with three credit card debt and sleeping on his sister’s couch, and is currently making 7-figure income through webinar marketing.

By the way, I recently set up my profile on Clarity – you can now schedule a growth consulting call with me on a pay per minute model.

I am doing my first webinar next week with Target Magazine, Spanning the Globe with Google, so I thought it would be a great opportunity for me to learn from a pro like Lewis to learn the webinar marketing best practices.

If you want to learn more about Lewis Howes and his School of Greatness, check out his website LewisHowes.com.

Lewis encouraged the participants of the webinar to share their notes on Clarity’s Facebook page to win a 30-min chat with Lewis. SO I took at shot at it.

Why Webinar Marketing?

First, Lewis made a compelling case for webinar marketing: they work and generate profit.

  • Marketers consistently rate webinars among the top 5 most effective tactics (CMI)
  • Businesses that engage with audience in the earliest stages of the buying process win three-quarters of the time (Forrester Research)
  • 85% of marketers strongly agree that webinars help build thought leadership (Adobe)
  • Webinars are the content that most efficiently converts leads into customers (Hubspot)
  • Over 21% of viewers who watch a recorded replay of webinar didn’t make it to the webinar

How to Make 6 Figures a Year with Webinar Marketing

Lewis presented the below formula in terms of what to expect from leveraging your list for webinar sign-ups and sales.

You can change the figure below based on size and engagement of your list, and the value of your product.

According to Lewis the key to building a successful webinar campaign is to constantly building a list that you will use for marketing your webinar. I couldn’t agree more. Many online marketing newbies take an approach to buy Facebook ads or banners to drive webinar signups, which is far less effective and efficient. Take Lewis’ advice and start building your list today.

If you don’t have a list, consider media buying, such as Google Adwords, co-marketing, and social media. Or just get my book, SEO Like I’m 5, to get instant online visibility and attract leads like a magnet to build your newsletter.

Lewis Howe’s 7-Step Process to Webinar Marketing

‘On Webinars you gotta teach the WHY, not the HOW’ – Lewis Howes

#1 5-minute before the call: Meet and Greet

#2 First 5 minutes: The Welcome

#3 5 to 15 minute mark: Your Story

#4 15 to 45 minute mark: The Content

#5 45 to 60 minute mark: The Close

#6 60 to 70 minute mark: Questions & Answers

#7 75 minute mark: Closing Thoughts and Remarks

“Every point is important, do not skip any of the steps, if you do you will fail” says Lewis Howes.

The storytelling is one of the most important parts in the Lewis’ webinar marketing process…. many newbie webinar enthusiasts fail to connect with their audience because they don’t tell stories and jump straight to the ‘how,’ according to Lewis.

Lastly, Lewis made it clear that you need to include a strong call to action in your Webinar. Ultimately, webinar marketing is about driving viewers to purchase your product or inquire about your services.

Here is an example from a killer pitch Lewis included in his webinar. Learn from the pro!

    Hi Matt,

This looks beyond awesome because Lewis really has his webinar stuff together.

I’d love to do webinars; I did them a few years back, in central Vietnam, and in Thailand, as I had awesome internet connections in those areas.

The biggest downside of blogging from paradise is that in some spots, I can’t do webinars. Here in Fiji if I do a Hangout or webinar on my tablet I should be OK.

In other spots, I don’t have a prayer. Just one trade off, which I have to live with.

Now when I come back home for a bit I have a cable connect so everything’s lighting fast, and I’m good to go.

    Thanks so much for sharing.

    I’ll tweet in a bit.

    Have a great weekend.

    Ryan

Thanks for sharing Ryan, I agree re: webinar marketing, very effective, once I am done with writing all the books (LOL) I’ll be starting a podcast and a webinar series

Sucks about poor WiFi in Fiji, but a little trade-off given all the other tools you have at your disposal, blogging, writing, etc

The secret is in compounding and your ability to scale grate content from a blog post to video to podcast to slideshare to webinar – if you offer every great piece of content in every format, think of the size of the audience you can reach

The downside is of course scalability, I am already working weekends lol

      thanks for the comment RB
